Pine Valley Quilts - Quilty Ramblings

Applique Class at New Zealand Symposium

Applique Class at New Zealand Symposium

Applique Class at New Zealand Symposium

I am teaching applique at the New Zealand Symposium held in Christchurch in October. There are three classes all with a different technique, over my years of quilt making I have played with many different ways to applique. Fusible, freezer paper, needle turn, starch, glues etc etc...... through all that trial and error I have now found the techniques that suit me.

I now do most of my applique by machine, but you would not know it when you look at my quilts. I love the look of turned edge applique, but after the beginning of RSI in my hand I had to find another way. I love how the machine can make my stitches so even and stable. Without taking anyway from the look of what had been created by hand.

All the methods I use can also be stitched by hand, giving you the option to choose.

The classes I am teaching are :

Creative Machine Applique this class will teach you how to create applique by machine and then to add subtle embellishment using your sewing machine.

How to stitch your applique by machine or by hand.
