Quilting my Red and Green Quilt

Hello Everyone I apologize for the large gap between my posts, no excuses, I have been working away on a large applique quilt. I have done the applique all by machine, using my version of several techniques. I am so happy with the results and now I am busy quilting my quilt hoping to be ready for the Calico Xmas Quilt show in November. I am using YLI 100% silk thread in the top and bottom and love the way it is looking, at the moment I am doing all the ditch stitching around the applique pieces and thinking about what design I will use as a filler. I have also been giving lots of thought to the designs I will use in the large spaces between the blocks and around the large plain borders. In my mind I can see loads of feathers and very traditional designs for this very traditional quilt. Here are a couple of pictures of my progress so far. As you can see my cat ( kitty Kat) is a great helper. [caption id="attachment_215" align="alignright" width="300"] Kitty Kat[/caption] Kitty Kat is a great helper, always keeping my chair warm for me. LOL Great Tip: As you can see there are two circles of ( not sure what this is called ) cloth that I bought form the hardware store which is used to keep things stable on the quilt top, this is a great substitute for quilting gloves. It grips the quilt and does not leave your hands sweaty and sticky, you can also feel the quilt underneath. I will place my next post with more of my progress soon. Love to hear your comments Sharon Pine Valley Quilts www.pinevalley.co.nz

    Hi Lizzie
Thanks for the comment. I will keep posting my progress, I only have another seven days to finnish my quilt before hand in day for the show. LOL

Looks lovely Sharon, I look forward to seeing it finished. Thanks for the tip about the grippers, it was a lightbulb moment when I saw them!! I used the exact same two about 10 minutes ago to open a jar of Salsa (Nacho’s for lunch) and knew straight away that they would work well..

I do love the way you have done your red and green quilt – I know I am a bit late with the comment, but just needed to say how much I love it – particularly when you had quilted it too :)
