More Civil War Bride Blocks

Hello I can't leave this quilt alone. I think I am addicted to it, it even keeps me awake at night. Here are some pics of my latest blocks. I would have to say that the block with the bride is my favourite so far, although it has alot of pieces and took me the longest to do. I am really enjoying the machine applique process and very pleased with the result, although needle turn applique has always been my method of choice and you do get a nice loft with needle turn, you really would not know that this has been done by machine if you were not told when the quilt is finished. I have also been playing with different products and methods to see which I prefer and I have to say that I have gone back to freezer paper, because I like that there are no foreign bodies in my finished quilt, I also use 100% cotton 50 weight thread instead of invisible nylon thread and I do not like the sheen that comes off it. Well back to my applique. Happy Stitching Sharon

    Hi Sue

So sorry about all that performance of how to do this but I think I have found a way I like and no you do not have to cut the back of your fabric.
I will show you when I see you next how I do this.

I am sick with envy!!! After all that performance, do you reckon the freezer paper method is the best?
Do you split the back to get the paper out, or what.
I can’t believe it after waiting so long to get my applique sheets, but you have done all the hard work, so I am going to be guided by you.
Am I not just so lazy?
Can’t wait to see them- they look great on the blog.
    WELL DONE!!

    Hi Lizzie
I have been working through the blocks in order but there are a few in the last row I think I will change and would like to put a groom in there somewhere.
Also I will change the border, I am not so keen on the bottom sowill probably do the same all around.
I know what you mean about the grapes, all those circles, I’m glad its finished.
    Thanks for the comment

My favourite block was the bride too Sharon and my least favourite to date was the grape and bird one which was the last one I did!! Maybe that’s why I’m finding it hard to get back to it?
Your background fabric is adorable, the softer colours look great against it. Are you doing the blocks in order?
Looking forward to seeing your next block.
