I love to design my own quilt patterns and share them. I am a confessed lover of vintage and reproduction fabrics, my favorite thing to do is applique.

Choosing quilting designs and threads

Choosing quilting designs and threads
Choosing quilting designs and threads for Whimsical Baskets Quilt. I have been making progress on the applique center of the quilt and so far I am very happy with how it is coming along. The problem I have is now how to quilt the rest of the quilt. Looking at the blocks I had originally planned to continue with the theme of the pumpkin seed design. (easy right! ) The Dilemma is thread colour !!! Because there is such a contrast in colour within the blocks I am having problems finding a thread that will blend.. I want to use a 50 weight cotton as a finer thread weight seems to get lost on the linen fabric in the blocks. I have thought about this problem for a few days and moved on to other projects LOL in the too hard box. Today I have forced myself to get back to work on this quilt, so I chose a colour to match the strong colour in the block and quilted a pumpkin seed design. At first I did not like to look but after taking a break and a re-think and another look. ( Loads of cups of Tea) I think I like it now and will continue with the quilting, using a mating colour for each of the colours in these Shoo Fly Blocks.
