Chantels Quilt

Hello Chantel is my youngest sons girlfriend, she is absolutley lovely and very good for my son. We all love Chantel and it is her 21st in two weeks time. I have had this quilt top made up already and it is perfect for her. I have been busy trying to machine quilt it over the weekend, but!!!!!! I have started useing rainbows thread by Superior threads as it is a lovely embellishing thread with The Bottom line in the bobbin. I have had alot of trouble getting the tension right. it seems too tight in the bobbin and the stitches have a stringy look. So!!!!!!! I have been altering the bobbin tension to find that that has not corrected my problem as then the bobbin thread shows on the top line like little bubbles of thread coming through. I then searched the internet for info on tensions and found this great pdf by Superior Threads on everything you need to know and do when using any of their threads. http://www.superiorthreads.com/education/troubleshooting/reference-guide-information-chart After trying their suggestions I found the look much better, but decided to undo the quilting I had already done, about 1/4 of the quilt and redo it with King Tut as I like this look better. Here are a few pics of the quilt before I undid the quilting. [caption id="attachment_58" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Looked Great on top of Quilt but tension wrong underneath[/caption] Hope you can see this as my photo has not come up as clear as I would have liked. Any suggestions on this would be appreciated. Happy quilting Sharon

Love your quilts Sharon – Interesting to read of your problems with tension. I tried using a varigated thread a while ago…and the tension just would NOT go well at all. I will be interested to see if you have any further answers – and would like to ask how you came to choose your Pffaf? I have an Bernina QE and an older Pffaf. Your wedding Ring quilt is great too – I will be interested to come back and visit again

    Hi Joan
Thank you for your lovely comment.
In answer to your question about choosing my Phaff, I have been a Bernina girl for a long time and still have my Aurora 440 QE that I still love, but the latest Bernina was way over my budget and this Phaff Quilt Expression 4.0 had alot of the features at less than half the price, I especially love the large harp space and the built in IDT, also the way it raises the foot up when you stop. Although I must warn you it has not been without its problems and has visited the mechanic twice now. I am hopeing everything is sorted out now and I must say it has been quilting like a hot knife through butter.
I look forward to you visiting again.
