I love to design my own quilt patterns and share them. I am a confessed lover of vintage and reproduction fabrics, my favorite thing to do is applique.

Applique Overlay

Applique Overlay

The Simple Red Quilt has twenty eight applique blocks in the outside border. As I am working on them I thought you might like to see an Applique overlay idea. I found Vellum tracing paper in A4 sheets in our local stationery shop, this gave me the idea that if I traced the block pattern onto the Vellum Tracing paper it would work great as an Applique Overlay, because it is light and you can see through it easily. You get a better shot of the traced lines in the close up picture below. Simply Red Quilt / Pine Valley Quilts

I now have all twenty eight blocks completed, hopefully I can show you a picture of the finished quilt top in my next post. I also want to show you a picture of my sewing area, it's not big ! For years I have been trying to fit everything in and still have areas to work on different aspects ie: applique, quilting, piecing, computer work. My friends will tell you how often I change everything around trying to make more space. My lovely husband made some suggestions, and when I actually started to realize that he was making sense  before I knew it he had taken half the furniture out and replaced it with one desk, he had my sewing area sorted out wonderfully. It works great and I love it........ Just goes to show sometimes it pays to listen. LOL Simply Red Quilt / Pine Valley Quilts

    Hi JoAnne

Thanks for the comment. Funny! I have been thinking it would be a good idea to release the border applique block next as it would help give you some time to get a head start on the blocks.
So after hearing from you the applique border block will be the next one released.

HI Sharon, I was wondering if you will be sending out the border block soon? It would be nice to be able to start on that block since there are 28 of them. I love this quilt and am looking forward to each and every block. I have wanted to do a red and white quilt for such a long time.
