  • A Neutral Quilt

  • I love to design my own quilt patterns and share them. I am a confessed lover of vintage and reproduction fabrics, my favorite thing to do is applique.

A Neutral Quilt

With all the things I Should be doing, which are too many to list. I have been dreaming up a neutral quilt, or as neutral as I can go haha, it has to have a wee bit of colour. I have been having so much fun pulling out fabrics from my stash that I have been collecting for years and forgot I had LOL , it's really got me excited to start. The reason for this...... is that my Son Peter and his girlfriend Ness are due home in October after being away in London for two and half years. I am so looking forward to having them live here at home for a while before they get settled into the daily grind of work etc. Peters old bedroom needs a bit of a lift and I am planning to bring it back to life with a new quilt. I am thinking a 'French Farmhouse' look ( in my dreams ) So a quick piecing project is what I had in mind. I am itching to get started on a pieced quilt and nothing too difficult fits the bill as I only have a month.... No pressure ! Although you never know I may fit some applique on it somewhere. I have given some thought as to which block I will use and have decided on a birds in the air block. Sound Good ?......... Here are the fabrics I have got selected, the large print is my first choice. ( a beautiful Minick and Simpson Print ) Then I have selected a range of neutrals to compliment it. I have also added in a few prints to give it a bit of ummph! ( Is that a word?) You know what I mean. Fabrics chosen for my Neutral Quilt More fabric choices for Neutral Quilt More fabrics chosen for Neutral QuiltChocolate SliceAfter all that work I think I deserve a treat. In honor of Peter I have made his favorite slice. Known in our family as 'Chewy Dick'. Honestly can you imagine with Two boy's and their Nana naming her slice by this name. However it has been a family favorite. Now I will see if I can get some  of these blocks made so I can show you my progress. I would love comments and get your thoughts on my ramblings. Happy Stitching Sharon

Hi Sharon, That gave me a good laugh…the name of your favorite slice!
I love the French general. I’m interested to see what you will make. :)

Okay, Sharon, now you’re going to have to share that recipe. Anything with a name like “Chewy Dick” sounds very interesting. lol
I love the colors you’ve chosen for Peter’s quilt. Soft and comforting-everything a quilt should be.
